*“Empire” ratings were down a bit from last week’s season premiere, but was still easily the most watched show on Wednesday night, according to The Wrap.

The Fox drama drew 13.7 million viewers according to preliminary numbers. It attracted 16 million viewers last week, which increased to a mind-blowing 22.5 million when live+3 viewing and streaming were tacked on.

Its Morris Chestnut-led lead-in “Rosewood” was also down slightly from its premiere week, drawing 6.2 million viewers, compared to last week’s 7.4 million.

Meanwhile, the new CBS medical drama “Code Black” had a decent opening, with 8.5 million viewers. It didn’t hurt that the show’s lead-in was the season premiere of “Criminal Minds,” which was the second most watched show of the night behind “Empire.”

“Empire” was still good enough to carry Fox to a first place finish in every measure for the night. The network overall averaged 9.9 million viewers.

CBS was second with 9.3 million viewers, followed by NBC in third place with 6.8 million viewers. ABC was fourth with 7.4 million.

Univision was fifth with 2 million viewers, Telemundo was sixth with 1.6 million viewers, and The CW brought up the rear with 1.2 million viewers.
