Tied: Trump & Carson who’s ‘Willing’ to Give Kanye Chance at Presidency

Donald Trump and Ben Carson*Dr. Ben Carson’s run for president in 2016 is hitting the right notes with Republicans as a new national poll shows him running neck and neck with the party’s frontrunner, Donald Trump.

The Hill cites the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, which was released Sunday morning (Sept. 27) and finds Trump receiving support from 21 percent of conservative voters while Carson has 20 percent of voters in his corner. Carson’s showing in the new poll doubles the support he got in a similar poll in July.

Tied for third in the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll are Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Carly Fiorina, with 11 percent each. Following them are Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 7 percent, Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 6 percent and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz with 5 percent.

NBC News points out that no other GOP candidate had more than 3 percent support.

On the Democratic side, the new polls finds Hillary Clinton’s lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders decreasing to just 7 points as she leads with 42 percent support nationally over Sanders’ 35 percent. Back in June, a similar poll had Clinton holding a 60-point lead over Sanders

Rounding things out in the latest poll is Vice President Joe Biden with 17 percent support.

kanye-westWith him gaining traction in the polls, Carson has become someone to watch among those gunning for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. So it kinda makes sense that he voices his thoughts on another person on people’s political radar: Kanye West.

The rapper-producer’s 2020 quest for the White House has been picking up steam since he announced his political intentions while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

With all that, count Carson among those paying attention as he addressed West’s possible candidacy and the props he gave him during an interview with Vanity Fair during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday (Sept. 27).

In West’s eye’s, the former neurosurgeon is “the most brilliant guy.”

Initially however, Carson wasn’t at all thrilled about returning the compliment.

“Kanye’s good at selling shoes, but not for president,” Carson said to a TMZ cameraman on Saturday.

Whoa! Well, on Sunday, as we said above, Carson was singing a new tune regarding Kanye.

“Well, I am certainly willing to give him a chance,” Carson told “This Week” host Martha Raddatz regarding West. “He’ll be able to explain things and see if he resonates with the people.”

Seeing Yeezy’s ability to generate attention from young voters, Carson mentioned that he was impressed with the “FourFiveSeconds” entertainer’s business acumen and hopes to join forces with him and other pop culture fixtures to get that youth vote.
