*The sister of James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, the comic who died in the New Jersey Turnpike crash that nearly killed Tracy Morgan, says her family hasn’t heard from the recovering star since the accident, and believes Morgan could’ve at least mentioned her brother in his emotional speech Sunday night at the Emmy Awards.
“I understand it’s been a great ordeal for Tracy over the last 15 months. I just feel in some form or fashion, he should have acknowledged my brother — his mentor — because he lost his life,” Pamela McNair, 51, told the New York Daily News.
“Emotionally, we’re still devastated and healing. It’s a tragic loss of a great human. My brother was just an awesome individual,” she said.
Pamela says Morgan has yet to reach out to them via phone or in person.
“We’ve never heard condolences directly from him,” she told The News.
“I know there’s a healing process, mentally and emotionally. I’m sure being in that limo and seeing certain things, it was highly traumatic for him. But just take a minute along the way to acknowledge my brother. He has children, siblings, a big family all bearing that same pain,” she said.
Morgan, 46, made a surprise appearance at the Emmy Awards to present the award for Best Drama Series to HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
“Thank you so much. I missed you guys so much,” he told the crowd amid a standing ovation. The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member thanked his doctors, family and new wife Megan Wollover for their support throughout his recovery.
“I’m here, standing on my own two feet,” he said in his first public speech since the accident left him with several broken ribs, a broken leg and head trauma.
“It’s been a long road back. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days. When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn’t the one who messed up,” he said to laughter.
“Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again, which means, a whole lot of y’all women are gonna get pregnant at the after-party,” he joked.
Morgan is due to host “SNL” on Oct. 17.
The comic did make a point of remembering McNair in an interview with “Today” in June.
“Bones heal. But the loss of my friend will never heal,” Morgan said then.
