Terrence Howard’s Domestic Abuse Drama Defended by Lee Daniels

Terrence-Howard-Lee-Daniels*Terrence Howard’s domestic violence issues are no different that troubles experienced by Marlon Brando and Sean Penn back in the day, according to Lee Daniels.

The “Empire” co-creator put his two cents in on Howard’s recent confession to Rolling Stone that he hit his two ex-wives, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “That poor boy. [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f***in’ demon. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”

Daniels’s comments come as “Empire” kicks off its second season next week. The popular show and its cast are highlighted in the Reporter’s latest cover story titled “Empire On Fire.”

In addition to Howard, Daniels shared his thoughts on Howard’s “Empire” co-star Taraji P. Henson. For Daniels, Henson’s status was already cemented before white America got hip to her. So much so that he compared her to one of Hollywood’s legendary entertainers.

“Taraji was what I call ‘Project Royalty’ because in the projects, honey, she is royalty,” he said. She was Meryl Streep in the streets; it just took a moment for white America to catch on.”
