*During the summer, Nene Leakes announced that she was leaving the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” after 7 seasons. She stayed silent about the show all summer, tweeting instead about her other projects and business ventures. Now Nene is breaking her silence about season 8 – clearing up the rumors and speculation about her replacement. She told Access Hollywood that Bravo would have to “bring in a truckload of women and men to replace me.”
Leakes shut down rumors that Atlanta drag queen Amiyah Scott will fill her shoes in the upcoming season.
“All lies. It’s just a way to get everybody to tune in. Guarantee you that,” Nene told Access Hollywood LIVE. She added: “None of those people that you’ve been hearing about will be Housewives.”
“I am irreplaceable. They will have to bring in a truckload of women and men to replace me. I’m irreplaceable honey,” she said. “They will never find anybody that can do what Nene does.”
Leakes also explained that drama, and not a disagreement over money, is why she quit “Housewives.”
“Money isn’t everything,” she said. Nene’s salary was a rumored $1.5 million per season at the time she resigned.
“I felt like it was very negative at times. It was just time for me to step back and try other things. I just need a break. I may come back some day,” she said.
While NeNe fans wait and hope that she returns to the series, fans of the franchise continue to wonder who will RHOA producers pick to match Nene’s popularity with viewers. Among rumored new housewives are former cast member Sheree Whitfield and actress Kim Fields, famous for hit shows, “The Facts of Life” and “Living Single.”
