*Undefeated UFC champion Ronda Rousey has landed the lead role in an upcoming reboot of the 1989 cult classic “Road House.”

According to the Bleacher Report, Rousey will play a female version of Dalton (originally played by the late Patrick Swayze), a Ph.D.-educated bouncer tasked with busting the heads of troublemakers while turning the roadhouse into a hip hot-spot.

The movie was a breakout hit, earning $30 million at the box and becoming a cult classic primarily through cable reruns.

The fighter reportedly reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing before accepting the role, and she received it. Brand Slater, Rousey’s agent, told MMAFighting.com that the film’s producers will work around Rousey’s UFC schedule. She’s currently training for her title defense against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 14.

A source told ESPN.com that Rousey has not yet signed a contract for the role, however she Tweeted her excitement about the movie, saying:

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze… I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of.”

This will be the fourth project specifically developed as a starring vehicle for Rousey, following her biopic “My Fight/Your Fight” at Paramount, “The Athena Project” at Warner Bros. and she will be featured in Mark Wahlberg’s action pic “Mile 22,” Variety reports.

Ronda also had bit parts in “Furious 7,” “The Expendables 3” and “Entourage.”

Production on “Road House” is slated to begin in 2016. No release date has been announced, and no word on how far the new “Road House” will wander from the original script, but one thing’s for sure, there will be lots of fighting!
