Playboy Sues MediaTakeOut Over Azealia Banks Pictures

azealia-banks-playboy-*MediaTakeOut.com is feeling the heat from Playboy over nude pictures it ran of rapper Azealia Banks.

According to TheWrap.com, Playboy Enterprises filed a lawsuit against the popular website in federal court in New York on Tuesday (Sept. 8).

At the center of the complaint are allegations from Playboy that MediaTakeOut yanked the pictures of Banks without permission and published the nude photos of Banks in March. Banks was featured in Playboy’s April 2015 issue.

The suit states that Playboy was the exclusive licensee of the photos. It goes on to mention that MediaTakeOut put its own watermark on the pictures, despite Playboy obtaining a registration for the images from the U.S. Copyright Office.

“Upon information and belief, defendant knowingly altered and/or falsified copyright management information to conceal defendant’s infringement of plaintiff’s registered and unregistered copyright works,” the suit states.

Overall, Playboy alleges copyright infringement and violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act as it requests a declaration that Media Takeout infringed on the works. Adding to this is Playboy asking for damages of “up to $150,000 for each copyright infringement” and up to $25,000 for each violation of the DMCA.
