*“The Daily Show” is filling out its correspondent slots as the Trevor Noah era draws near.
Roy Wood Jr., who began his comedy career in 1998 as a 19-year-old FAMU student, joins the show as a regular contributor, along with Ronny Chieng and Desi Lydic.
The three newbies join a roster that includes Jordan Klepper, Hasan Minhaj, Jessica Williams, Lewis Black, John Hodgman, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi and Kristen Schaal.

Wood made his network television debut in 2006 on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and finished third in the 2010 season of Last Comic Standing.
In 2002, he earned a slot as one of 10 national finalists in Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots competition in Los Angeles. Roy was a Star Search Semi-Finalist in 2003. He’s also appeared on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson
From 2001-2007 Wood served as head writer/producer of the Buckwilde Morning show on 95.7 Jamz (Birmingham). He return to the station in 2010 and for two years hosted the “Roy Wood Jr. Show” and took home two awards from the Alabama Broadcasters association for Best Large Market Morning Show.
Wood has recorded three nationally-released prank call CD’s: My Momma Made Me Wear This (2003), Confessions of a High School Bench Warmer (2005) and I’ll Slap You to Sleep! (2009). And has recently released his first comedy CD Things I think, I think (2013).
