*While promoting her gig hosting the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Miley Cyrus says GOP candidate Donald Trump “loved” her controversial 2013 VMA performanc, in which she twerked and gyrated all over Robin Thicke.
The singer tells The New York Times that she was staying at the Trump Hotel in New York immediately following her 2013 performance when she got a phone call from the real estate mogul.
“Donald Trump literally called and said, basically, ‘I know everyone’s talking about it, but I loved it.’ I had no idea anyone was talking about it yet,” Cyrus says in the article published Friday.
Trump has weighed in on Cyrus’s personal and professional life more than once on Twitter. The former “Celebrity Apprentice” host tweeted less than a month after the “VMAs” that Cyrus was on a “very [tricky] and slippery path right now.”
