Michael Jordan Wins Lawsuit; Guess Who Gets $8.9M Award?

michael jordan

*Remember that court case last week that revealed that Michael Jordan won’t do business with anyone for less than $10 million? Well, it’s over and MJ won and walked away even richer.

A Chicago jury awarded the 52-year-old NBA legend $8.9 million in a lawsuit he filed against a grocery store he said used his likeness without permission.

Specifically, the suit was filed against Safeway and alleged that one of its now defunct stores, Dominick’s Finer Foods, published an ad featuring his likeness without his permission, according to CNN Money.

Jordan had been seeking $10 million in damages and revealed the value of his existing endorsements during the trial to prove the value of his likeness which is how the world learned of his $10 million business minimum.

But for those haters who believe Jordan is being “greedy,” Jordan said in a statement that the case “wasn’t about the money” and planned to donate the verdict to charity.

“I hope this case sends a clear message, both here in the United States and around the world, that I will continue to be vigilant about protecting my name and identity,” he added.

As of this posting, Safeway had not commented.
