*Ever notice your favorite celebrity promote a random product or service on social media and wonder what they’re getting in return? When celebs sign on to be a sponsored tweeter/publisher for a company, the brand gains exposure, and they (the celeb) receive a sizable paycheck, but for how much?

A 2013 Huff Post article reported that Kim Kardashian allegedly ranks in $20,000 per sponsored tweet (her asking price is probably more today), and sister Khloe clocks in $13,000 per tweet. Jared Leto reportedly makes $13,000 per tweet, while Mike Tyson earns $3250 per tweet. Companies that collaborate with celebrities expect to extend their reach through the celebrity’s fan base.

Want to pay LeBron James to tweet about your product? Expect to pay him about $140,000 and even then, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward is not likely to say yes, ESPN reports.

Opendorse, a company that specializes in executing and monetizing digital and social media campaigns for athletes, says a tweet from James, who has 23.2 million followers, has the highest value of any U.S. athlete. Each tweet from James has a media value of $139,474, the company said.

“We’re basically saying that the value of one LeBron tweet is worth $140,000,” said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. “And with that, you will reach 23 million people. It would cost you five times more to reach that many people with a TV ad.”

Lawrence said LeBron was recently offered a six-figure sum for a single tweet – and turned it down.

Opendorse determines how much a sponsored mention is worth by analyzing a celebrity’s true reach, activity, and quality and overall level of engagement of their audience of followers. Lawrence said most companies pay athletes between $1,000 and $2,500 for a single tweet.

EPSN lists the top five athletes whose single tweet would provide a company’s product or service the most value: Kevin Durant ($66,553), Kobe Bryant ($42,389), Floyd Mayweather ($34,924) and Dwight Howard ($34,290).
