*Russell Westbrook (pictured above) definitely sets the fashion bar as his outfits keep people talking even when he’s off the court. With a wardrobe that consists of vibrant colors, multiple patterns and tight pants, the debate to whether not Westbrook is the NBA’s fashion icon is often discussed.

We can’t start the conversation on NBA fashion without mentioning Dennis Rodman (pictured below). The Worm’s outfits were heavily discussed throughout the 80s and 90s with his most notable fashion mention being the wedding dress he boldly stepped out in during his book signing for “Bad As I Wanna Be,” in 1996.

Despite the wedding gown, the Chicago Bulls player made it a habit to wear things that became conversation starters. So who dresses better? Rodman in the 90’s or Westbook nowadays? EURweb Associate Kiki Ayers hit BET’s 1st Annual Players Awards red carpet in Las Vegas to ask NBA players and other stars what they thought.

“That’s a close one. I think it’s a tie,” said Small Forward Clippers player Paul Pierce. He was the only one that gave them the mutual tie. Nazr Mohammed and Lou Williams gave their vote to Westbrook whereas comedian Billy Sorrells had a strong opinion as to why it was Rodman.

“Dennis was a ahead of his time. He had the tattoos and everyone was praying over Dennis Rodman,” said Sorrells. Dennis Rodman is a fashion icon…yeah he had blonde hair and yeah he wore dresses and stuff. He was doing what Bruce Jenner did before Bruce Jenner.”

Rap star Kid Ink stated that Russell is killing the game now but Rodman started it.  “Dennis back in the day, that was trendsetting right there,” he said.

The awards show was held in the Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino was a star-studded event that featured appearances by top NBA Players and performances by musical talent.

As we reported earlier, the “Players Awards” premiered on BET on Tuesday July 21st at 8pm.  For more information about NBPA visit www.nbpa.com
