*With two months to go before “Empire’s” Sept. 23 premiere, FOX on Wednesday dropped its first trailer for Season 2…and then promptly removed it from the Internet.
But fans lucky enough to catch the teaser got a first look at what’s to come for the Lyon family. The theme for Season 2: “New Music, New Money, New Power, New Empire.”
In the trailer, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) was seen taking charge of the family’s record label, Andre (Trai Byers) was strolling through the halls of Empire and Lucious (Terrence Howard) was of course behind bars.
Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) – in a stylish patchwork denim jacket – was seen visiting Lucious in jail…looking annoyed. But more shockingly, she was also seen walking side-by-side through the Empire Records offices with Anika (Grace Gealey), her biggest rival last season.
On the music front, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) was seen back in the studio and Jamal has launched a #FreeLucious campaign. He was shown performing at a huge concert in support of his daddy’s release.
Did someone at Fox release the promo without permission? So far, no word on why the network snatched it away:
