*Tyrese is yet another high-profile celebrity making their way to the FOX’s hit drama series “Empire” when it returns this fall.

Lee Daniels took to his Instagram account last week to announce Tyrese would be joining the cast for season two. The news comes on the heels of Kelly Rowland also being added as Lucious Lyon’s mother (in flashback scenes we suppose).

Tyrese has been quite vocal about wanting to be reunited with his “Baby Boy” co-star Taraji P. Henson, and he explained to HuffPost Live why it hasn’t happened yet.

“I was supposed to be on season one of ‘Empire,’ and I was in and out of court fighting for a personal matter with my 7-year-old, so I wasn’t able to do the show. That’s the truth,” Tyrese said. “Taraji and Lee Daniels were very, very disappointed – and I was too – that I couldn’t do it.”

He also explained that he understands the fan’s undying love for his pairing with Henson, “When it comes to Taraji, because we did ‘Baby Boy’ together, people don’t want to see her with any other man, and they don’t want to see me with any other woman. It’s almost like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams from ‘The Notebook,'” he said.

Season two of Empire returns to FOX Sept. 23.

Oh, and in case you missed it, Tyrese announced the release of his latest album “Black Rose” by hitting up a subway last week in New York to promote his CD.

And of course, Tyrese was hella excited:
