So much so that it’s still business as usual for her as news surfaced last week about Cosby admitting his intent to drug various women he wanted to have sex with by obtaining Quaaludes during a deposition.
“Camille still doesn’t believe that Bill provided drugs and had sex with women without their consent,” a source employed by the Cosby family told the New York Post‘s Stacy Brown. “She’s well aware of his cheating, but she doesn’t believe that her husband is a rapist.”
Although Camille’s ride or die attitude may have taken people aback, another sources who’s done business with the Cosbys and remains close to the couple tells the Post that Camille is “a proud, dignified but stubborn woman.
“You can say that she’s standing by her husband, but really, the more people stand against him, the more she perceives it as an affront to her and all that she’s done to make him a star,” the other source said.
Not only is it personal for Camille, but from the looks of things, it’s also professional. According to a business source, Camille, who also serves as Cosby’s business manager, brought it up Tuesday night (July 7) at a crisis meeting at the couple’s Shelburne Falls, Mass., home when she demanded that their lawyers and public relations specialists “get back out in front of this.”
“I created him, I knew what I was getting and we’ll fix this,” Camille said, according to the source. “They are making him out to be such a bad guy, a monster,”
“People are jumping ship,” she added in an apparent reference to singer-actress Jill Scott, who took back her staunch support of Cosby by saying she’s sorry for defending him, and comedian Jimmie Walker, another Cosby defender who now labels the embattled funnyman as the “O.J. Simpson of comedy.”
Last week proved to be active for the Cosbys, as the advisors for the entertainer urged him to cut ties with everyone and put a cap on any attempts for a comeback, the Post notes while mentioning reports of prosecutors in Los Angeles and Las Vegas taking a closer look at Cosby’s nearly 50 alleged sexual assaults on women that go back five decades
“It’s advisable that you close ranks. That means [cut off] family, Hollywood family, friends, Hollywood friends,” Cosby was told, according to the business partner.
For those wondering about Camille’s state of mind regarding her husband’s cheating, the family source told the Post that although she “stopped being embarrassed long ago” by the TV icon’s affairs, it’s the “invasion of privacy,” she can’t tolerate.
Talking to those in her circle, the source stated that Camille said the affairs were “personal, between Bill and I.”
You have to allow for space to let your partner do what he wants, Camille confided, according to the source.
“I have done that and [Bill] has done that and there’s no jealously, no friction.”
The family source goes on to acknowledge Camille saying that every so often her and Cosby go through an “evaluation period” to determine whether they should keep the marriage going.
“She even once talked to Oprah Winfrey about cleansing herself of baggage every now and again and how it always seems to lead her back to staying with Bill,” the family source shared with the Post.
