*Los Angeles-Summer is in full swing. Most Angelenos couldn’t tell it was summer by the nice, pleasant weather that we have been experiencing lately.

Everyone welcomes the Summer season. This fun time of the year finds people looking forward to a well-deserved vacation. Reality sets in when ones finances doesn’t align with your idea vacation destination.

People from all walks of life have embraced the concept of Staycations. This allows you to explore your local and surrounding communities without compromising your budget.

If you are the adventurous type, you can find a ton of free concert series taking place throughout the summer throughout the greater Los Angeles area. One such series is the popular BHCPLive! at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.

“Since 2009, the extremely popular, annual BHCPLive! Summer Concert Series has brought the community together for some world-class music. BHCPLive! is considered one of the hottest summer concert series in Los Angeles.”

“BHCPLive! is well known for presenting an eclectic mix of musical genres from R&B to Latin to Soul by some of the music industry most prominent performers.”

In keeping with their already stellar track record, BHCPLive! featured The Rebirth on Friday, July 10th, in Center Court, for an unforgettable musical experience.

The Rebirth is a Los Angeles based septet built on an organic blend of new and traditional soul, hip-hop, jazz and funk. This was the right ingredient to kick off the weekend.

A captivated crowd of Mall patrons were seated near the food court for a joyful performance of The Rebirth as they dished up a smorgasbord of funk, soul and jazz.

The Rebirth thrilled the audience with material from their current CD’s This Journey In and Being Thru the Eyes of a Child. The tunes performed doing their crowd pleasing 90 minute set were “This is Coming To,” “Common Ends,” “Wasteland,” “Of His Way” with Mark Cross on vocals, “Shake It”-this is what the party people came to do.

The band revved it up more on “Sum Same,” “Jealous Kind,” “Halfway,” “Show Em’, “Surrender the Pretender,” “This Journey In,” “Everybody Say Yeah,” “Evil Vibrations,” and closed with “Joyous.”

The members of The Rebirth consist of Carlos “Loslito” Guico-keyboards, producer, lead vocals, Baskerville Jones-vocals, Mark Cross-keyboards, synths, Patrick Bailey-guitar, Nikki Campbell-percussions, Corbin Jones-bass and Chris Taylor-drums.

Here is another chance for you to catch The Rebirth in concert at yet another free concert series. The Hammer Museum and KCRW presents four nights of live music celebrating the timeless power of Soul music. The first concert was held on July 9th.
