*Toni Braxton has settled her child support battle with ex-husband, Mint Condition keyboardist Keri Lewis. Braxton accused her ex of not paying child support for their 2 two sons, 11-year-old Denim and 10-year-old Diezel.
Braxton and Lewis tied the knot in Atlanta in April 2001. They announced their split in November 2009. Braxton’s personal and financial problems got worse in 2010. She filed for bankruptcy twice and was also diagnosed with lupus.
The six-time Grammy winner served her ex-husband with a child support contempt lawsuit last October 31, 2014 in Georgia Court. The contempt lawsuit sought to have a court order find that Lewis had not been paying the ordered support, and to obtain an order to collect back child support.
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports that Braxton’s bankruptcy documents reveal she is to receive 2k a month from Lewis for support for their children.
On May 10th, Braxton filed docs in the case dismissing the lawsuit voluntarily. The dismissal means that she and Keri reached a settlement outside of court. The case was closed the same day.
During her Vh1 Behind the Music special in October 2012, Braxton opened up about her failed marriage. “I had to figure out a plan for my life that had nothing to do with him,” she explained. “I was angry with everybody. I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I felt that I was a person dealing with a lot of struggles and here comes another one.”
Braxton currently stars in the WEtv reality show, “Braxton Family Values.” Along with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, she released her album, “Love, Marriage & Divorce,” last year which won a Grammy for Best R&B Album.
Toni recently announced her first ever New Zealand show. She will play Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre on September 17. Tickets go on sale July 9.
About the upcoming tour, Braxton said, “I know it’s taken a while for me to get to New Zealand, but I promise it’s going to be well worth the wait! I can’t wait to give all of my wonderful fans a very special and unforgettable night.”
