tWitch on Returning to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ as a Mentor

*Since competing on “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2008, Stephen “tWitch” Boss has become a superstar in the field and continues to reach new heights.

After placing second during the show’s fourth season, tWitch went on to star in “Step Up” and “Stomp the Yard” films, become the house DJ on “Ellen” and is currently bearing his chest in the strip tease blockbuster “Magic Mike XXL.”

He’s also made repeated returns to the Fox series that made him a star – as both a guest dancer, and for three seasons as one of the resident “All Stars” that were paired each week with a different contestant.

This season, he’s back on the show in the newly-created role of “mentor,” alongside fellow former contestant-turned-choreographer, Travis Wall.

“My job as a mentor now, it is fully, fully, fully invested in not only what goes on with the casting – from Vegas week and stuff like that – but also when it comes down to the competition show, being there literally as a mentor,” says tWitch. “It’s something that Travis and myself wish we could have had while we were competing on the show; somebody that has gone through it, has seen enough seasons, the workings, ins and outs, to give you a little mental stability and also maybe approach the notes that a choreographer is giving you or that the judges are giving you from a different standpoint.”

Below, tWitch explains what contestants hope to get out of winning a show like “SYTYCD”:

“So You Think You Can Dance” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
