*Rihanna may be back in the studio recording her upcoming album, “#R8,” but sources claim the singer is struggling to produce a radio hit, and her music has been put on pause while she focuses on launching herself as a serious fashion designer.

Rihanna has been honored several times over for her impeccable style, and her fans know she is serious about it. Back in 2013 it was hinted that she wanted to pursue a career in fashion when she sued Topshop (and won) for using her image on one of their T-shirts. Legal papers revealed that one witness, Rihanna’s creative director Ciarra Pardo, claimed that “Rihanna was working hard to identify herself as a serious fashion designer and items such as the T-shirt in issue do not support that goal.”

The recent issue of Grazia magazine exclusively reveals that Rihanna’s company, Roraj Trade, LLC, filed an application last month with the US Patent and Trademarks Office for a new brand, $CHOOL KIlls. It was registered and trademarked in New York on May 11 under the category of ‘leather products’ and ‘clothing products.’

A close source told Grazia:

“$CHOOL KIlls will be an accessories range covering everything from tote bags to purses, and later on, fashion. She still loves the music, and it’s what launched her, but this is her focus right now.”

“Rihanna has already had a successful clothing line with River Island and is not limiting herself to just music and touring for the rest of her life. She will continue to release singles and albums, but she’s had plans in place to expand in other areas like fashion, for a good few years now.”

Meanwhile, “The singles haven’t caught on. She’ll be fine because she’s Rihanna, but it’s not a good thing that the songs haven’t stuck,” a source told Page Six about Rihanna’s lackluster music this year.

Rihanna kicked off this year with her single “FourFiveSeconds,” featuring Kanye West and Paul McCartney, and subsequently released “American Oxygen” and “Bitch Better Have My Money.” She has yet to announce an official release date for “#R8” – but the album was due in late spring.

Another insider adds that RiRi is working hard on the project and she rushed those singles out because she wanted her fans to hear the new music.

“She released them because she felt really passionate about [them] and felt an urgency to get them out to her fans,” said the source. “This isn’t going to be another ‘Diamonds’ . . . She’s never not in the studio. It’s not her going back in. She never stopped.”
