Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrest Update: He’s Claiming Self Defense … Kinda (VIDEO)

*We’ve got an update on the Sean “Diddy” Combs arrest situation.

Combs was arrested about 12:30 p.m. at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex over an alleged assault involving a kettlebell, police said in a news release. (A kettlebell is a round piece of weightlifting equipment with a handle, usually made of cast iron.)

No one was seriously injured, police said. The charge is a felony, police said.

Earlier we reported that the entertainment mogul, whose son – Justin Combs – plays defensive back on the UCLA football team, confronted a coach about screaming at Justin and things went south from there.

According to TMZ, sources connected with Diddy are saying he acted in self defense and was not the aggressor.

Diddy insists the drama began during a workout session yesterday because strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was “riding Justin badly” and told him not to come back until the end of the summer.

Diddy decided to go to the campus today to speak Alosi because he believes the coach has an “issue” with Justin.

Diddy sources say Coach Alosi would not see him and staff told him to leave, but Diddy went to Alosi’s office instead; Alosi told him to leave and threatened to call security if he didn’t.

Diddy supposedly said, “Fine, I’ll call police” and – according to TMZ – Alosi allegedly snapped and Diddy with after the mogul with his hands.

We’re told Diddy insists that out of defense, he grabbed a but did not attack with an intent to injure the coach.

Interestingly, we hear the whole incident was captured on video.

Here’s something else to digest. Word is Diddy is referred to by the UCLA staff as a “helicopter dad” for hovering over practices.

And let us not forget that Alosi is somewhat of a bad boy himself. Back in 2010 when he was a NY Jets coach, he was suspended by the NFL after tripping a Miami Dolphins player who was covering a punt.

Watch that incident:

Head Coach Jim Mora called this an “unfortunate incident for all parties involved” and said they would let the legal process run its course.

As we said above, Sean “Diddy” Combs is known to put in a lot of time at the UCLA practice sessions. Here’s video of him roaming the sidelines back in April:

As of 6 p.m., Combs was still in UCLA police custody, said Nancy Greenstein, spokeswoman for university police. He was awaiting transport to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center, reports the LA Times..

Combs is expected to be taken to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center on Monday evening, police said.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation,” Bruins head coach Jim Mora said in a statement. “This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

“We are aware of the reports and are looking into the matter,” UCLA director of media relations Phil Hampton said.
