LA Civil Rights Orgs to Fete Civilian Police Board with ‘Certificate of Appreciation Award’

la civilian police board - ezell ford

*A coalition of every major South LA civil rights organization along with faith based leadership will be presenting the 5 member civilian board of police commissioners a “Certificate of Appreciation Award” for courage during public comment at the police commission meeting.

“Our coalition of civil rights leaders believe it’s critical to show the police commission our appreciation of them.

The police commission had the courage and conviction to vote their moral conscious in regards to the Ezell Ford case and had a differing opinion than Chief Beck. We salute them for their hard work and sacrifice. This commission is probably the most difficult one to serve on in the city.

This commission has come under criticism from Craig Lally of the police union, criticism which has been reckless and ludicrous. But we want the police commission to know we respect your service to our city and our coalition of civil rights leaders salute all of you ”
Stated Najee Ali political director National Action Network.
