*A stranger touched director Ava DuVernay’s hair unsolicited on Saturday when she was trying to board a train…and by the time she and other women nearby had checked him, station police had gotten involved and it turned into “a whole thing.”
The “Selma” director tweeted Saturday that she missed her train from New York’s Penn Station to Washington D.C. (for the private Prince party at the White House) because she confronted a man who had put his hands on her locs.
“Missed train dealing w/ a man who touched my hair + when I asked what in all the hells he thought he was doing, [he] replied, ‘Is this racial?’ ” DuVernay tweeted.

She wrote that other women came over to support her, which apparently prompted the man to yell at them all. According to DuVernay, the train station’s police then got involved.
Other women came over. Guy is screaming at all of us. Station police involved. It was a whole thing. As I see my train blink off the board.

Now he’s having charges pressed by another lady for harassment. Moral: DON’T TOUCH anyone uninvited. ESPECIALLY not this black woman’s hair.

DuVernay later thanked her Twitter followers for their positive messages, writing that she is “more than fine” after the incident and that “way worse is happening in the world.”
Gosh. Thanx for all the good wishes. I’m more than fine. Way, way worse is happening in the world. I’m just pissed about this train! Dammit!
