CNN Anchor Apologizes for Calling Dallas Police Attacker ‘Brave’

*Oops. She didn’t mean to say it, is what CNN anchor Fredricka  Whitfield is saying in her apology.

“I misspoke and in no way believe the gunman was courageous or brave,” news anchor says on-air Sunday

Whitfield issued an apology on Sunday for calling the gunman accused of opening fire at the Dallas police headquarters “courageous and brave” a day earlier.

“Yesterday during a segment on the Dallas police department attack, I used the words ‘courageous and brave,’ when discussing the gunman. I misspoke and in no way believe the gunman was courageous nor brave,” Whitfield said.

*One can only assume CNN weekend anchor Fredricka Whitfield didn’t mean it when she called gunman who shot up the Dallas Police headquarters “courageous and brave.”

Needless to say, she’s under serious fire for her comment

Whitfield made the apparent gaffe in the process of discussing that wild shootout Saturday morning while speaking with CNN legal analyst Philip Holloway.

“It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff,” Whitfield said. “So you believe these are the hallmarks of more than one person’s involvement.”

According to USA Today, the lone gunman was James Boulware. He was accused of shooting up the Dallas police headquarters with an assault rifle in a rampage that left him dead.
