Vance is taking over the role of Miles Dyson, originally played by Joe Morton in “T2: Judgment Day.” Okeniyi plays his son, Danny Dyson.

Joe Morton
The Original Miles Dyson

According to Wikipedia“Doctor Miles Bennett Dyson was the original inventor of the neural-net processor which would lead to the development of Skynet, a computer A.I. intended to control electronically linked weapons and defend the United States, but which would later seize control of the world and launch a global war of extermination against humanity. He was the man most directly responsible for Judgment Day, although his work was clearly not intended to bring about that, and Dyson was visibly distraught and disgusted to learn of the Rise of the Machines.”

The father of the “Terminator” franchise, James Cameron (“The Terminator” and “T2: Judgment Day”), called the new film “respectful of the first two films.”

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions recently debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming franchise reboot. It focuses on the relationship between Sarah Connor and “Guardian,” the aged T-800 played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. You can check it out here. In it, Clarke provides a previously unknown plot component to the film’s pairing of Connor and “Guardian.”

The film hits theaters July 1.
