*Famed designer Carolina Herrera is not feeling the half-naked fashion of today’s female pop culture icons, particularly the dresses worn by Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez at the recent Met Gala.

“They’re supposed to be fashion icons — and they’re not wearing anything. It’s an obsession now,” the 76-year-old told fashion critic Robin Givhan, speaking of Met Gala gowns. “It’s so modern to be naked or almost naked. They think it’s going to attract young people if they do those dresses. No!”

Herrera added: “They’re trying to get people to pay attention to them. In life, there should be a little mystery.”

  1. I totally agree with Herrera. They look desperate for attention and it’s not a good look. Next time they may just come naked – might has well.

  2. I too have to agree. I never understood how most of these celebs get to be called fashion icons instead of video vixen wannabees.

  3. I have to loud and clear openly disagree. This bar has been set and crossed over and over every since Cher Diana Ross and Tina Turner. Usually the older generation is close minded about today it’s fashions. And the younger ones comes to their defense! I wonder what happened? None of the dresses are any less than they were in the 70s and 60s. Everything in the world is going backwards…

  4. “..God bless this lady, Carolina. I have no clue who she is, but she has a great point. everyone is also forgetting : these women are someones mommy, now. would YOU love to know that loner perverts on the internet are checking out pics of YOUR mommy dressed all trashy, and masturbating to her?..”

    • Well….if my mother were in show business I wouldn’t be like the rest of the silly closed mind people….I would be open minded and realize its a part of show business. And proud of my mother for following in the footsteps of Josephine Baker, Diana Ross, Cher etc. etc. etc…..People see things differently when they’re either too old, or have modest professions like school teachers and secretaries…I think this “designer” designs for the “christian center”, “catholic school” or a lawyers office…..That attire is a no go for the red carpet. Maybe she should settle for designing drapes and let the stars strut their stuff….

  5. I agree whole heartly. Less is not better. A sheet and broche would have been more designing than, what those women where wearing. I guess they are all selling themselves to the highest bidder. Very sad situation.
