‘Sister Act’ Headed for Remake at Disney

Sister-Act

*It’s been 23 years since the first “Sister Act” film was released, so of course it’s time to reinvent it for the new generation that was birthed in its wake.

Disney will dust off the franchise with writers Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah whose credits include “Legally Blonde,” “The House Bunny” and “She’s the Man.”

The original in 1992 starred Whoopi Goldberg as a Reno lounge singer who hides as a nun in a San Francisco convent while under witness protection. It spawned the 1993 sequel and a Tony-winning Broadway musical.

It is unclear at this point if Goldberg would return for the new Disney outing in some capacity.
