charlize theron, mad max fury road,*Charlize Theron doesn’t remember the “Mad Max” film because she too young, but she knew of the franchise growing up in South Africa.

However, she vividly remembers seeing a taste of the post-apocalyptic world in Tupac’s “California Love” music video.

Theron told HipHollywood the 90s anthem was popular in South Africa, and she was a huge fan of the music video Hype Williams directed.

“I know that video very well,” she said. ” For some reason ‘Mad Max’ resonated with people in South Africa and South African culture, and my parents loved the ‘Mad Max’ films, so I got the Tupac connection. ”

Theron stars in George Miller‘s third film of the franchise as Furiosa, “Mad Max: Fury Road,” with Tom Hardy playing the title character and Zoe Kravitz as Toast. The film is now in theaters.
