Marco Rubio Admits Being a Nicki Minaj and EDM Fan

And with that comes a re-declaration of his appreciation for (get this) Nicki Minaj.

Yes, the 43-year-old Republican U.S. Senator loves the Young Money rapstress and is not ashamed of it. Not only that, but you can add electronic dance music (EDM) to Rubio’s playlist as he talked to TMZ and MSNBC about what who he’s listening to nowadays.

“I’ve gotten into it a little bit with David Guetta, Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso, and Swedish House Mafia, and all those guys,” Rubio shared with the site while making sure Minaj isn’t left out.

“And I’m still a Nicki Minaj fan. She’s very talented.”

Rubio’s comments about Minaj aren’t a big surprise, considering he’s known for being a fan of hip-hop. He even stated in a 2012 interview with GQ that NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton,” “Killuminati” by Tupac Shakur, and “Lose Yourself” by Eminem are his three favorite rap songs.

Nevertheless, you have to wonder how his love for Minaj plays with conservatives. Family values don’t necessarily mix with Minaj’s brand of music, which has been labeled as “blasphemous” and “pornographic.”

So what how do you feel about this? Do you think Rubio really has a love for Minaj and hip-hop or is he just playing this up so he can seem hip enough to get the youth vote and support from rap music fans.
