*Perhaps you’ve seen the cast of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on the promo trail this month, hustling hard to generate buzz ahead of its May 1st premiere.
Marvel fans have been anticipating this sequel since the end of 2012’s “Marvel’s The Avengers,” with “Ultron” marking the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and the addition of Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine from “Iron Man 2” and “3,” Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon from 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and Idris Elba as Heimdall, the guardian sentry of Asgard that popped up in the films “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World.”
So far, the four have been largely absent from TV promo duty. Instead, a whirlwind of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner has already run through the likes of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and the “MTV Movie Awards.”
They are the film’s A-Team, as the premise this time has Iron Man (Downey Jr.) trying to revive Ultron, an old-yet-highly self aware, computerized peacekeeping program that uses artificial intelligence to keep the peace. The intelligence, however, tells Ultron that humans are the main enemy and Ultron sets out to remove them from Earth. Iron Man must now deal with the monster he resurrected, with major assistance from Captain America (Evans), Thor (Hemsworth), the Hulk (Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Renner) and Black Widow (Johansson).
Below, Johansson tells us about Black Widow’s situation in “Avengers 2”:
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” opens May 1 nationwide.
