Barkhad Abdi Cast in Detroit-Set ‘Wolf Who Cried Boy’

*“Captain Phillips” star Barkhad Abdi will play a Detroit limo driver in the indie “The Wolf Who Cried Boy,” set to start shooting in the Motor City later this spring, reports Variety.

The story follows on a young man who gets swept into the seedy underbelly of the scrapping industry. Abdi’s character finds himself a fence for stolen copper.

Torrey Wigfield (“Lost River”) will co-star in the film. Producers are Luke Jaden, Cort Johns, Frank Capra III, Phil Wurtzel, Anthony Garth, Michael Zervos and Andy Henry.

Abdi, who was born in Somalia and moved to the U.S. when he was 14, made his film debut in “Captain Phillips,” receiving a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He stars opposite Aaron Paul in Gavin Hood‘s upcoming thriller “Eye in the Sky” and Phil Volken’s crime drama “Extortion.”
