*“Luke Cage,” the third series in Marvel’s four-series package at Netflix, has tapped “Ray Donovan” co-executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker as executive producer and showrunner, reports Deadline.com.

This marks Coker’s first showrunning gig. He’ll also build the program’s story by writing the first two episodes of the series that will premiere in 2016.

Luke Cage stars Mike Colter (“The Good Wife”) as the title character. He is being introduced in the second Marvel series for Netflix, “A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” before toplining his own show.

Coker previously was a supervising producer on “Southland,” sharing in the cop drama’s 2012 Peabody Award and winning a 2013 writing NAACP Image Award for his work on the show. On the feature side, Coker, who started off as a journalist, penned Fox Searchlight’s rap biopic “Notorious.”

Marvel’s “Luke Cage” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
