French Rhythm and Blues, Soul Singer, Aayité Tributes Memory of Selma March with Emotive Video

*Aayité, a french  rhythm and blues, soul singer just released his single “Wherever” – Yeton Version. The single, set to his recently released “Selma to Montgomery” video tributes  the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King’s historical March in Selma and to modern day civil rights concerns.

“This story touches me, so I wanted to make a piece of music to make [Americans aware that the story is known, and there is sentiment for it in]France.” Timely as  ‘Selma’ released in Paris this week, March 11, 2015.

“Wherever’s”  release and subsequent “Selma to Montgomery March” video premieres in step with present day marches that support voting rights procured by protests and freedom leaders in the 60s now believed threatened.  And also in time with the recent 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. On March 7, 1965.

Bloody Sunday was the first of three attempted marches, finally completed under federal protection and led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on March 24. The protests helped bring about the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Aayite’s “Selma to Montgomery March” video features the voice of United States, President Barak Obama speaking to a background of dream like images in washed out color ~ of blacks in the civil rights era marching. Plus, stunning images from the civil rights period.

UntitledAayite is featured walking through fields singing, while the camera is often adjusted upside down and angled sideways. The effect is trance like. Coupled with the soulful music,  Aayites “Whatever ~ Selma to Montgomery March” video has an emotive intensity.

In his newly released “Whatever ~ Selma to Montogmery March” video, it is interpreted that  Aayite is referring to the spirit of Martin Luther King and also to the men and women who marched and lived through the civil rights era.

Some of the lyrics read “Whatever I go, whatever I do please come with me. Let your spirit stay with me.”
