Pras Loses Lawsuit against NY Post for Alleged Defamatory Article

Pras-Michel-AP*Former Fugees rapper Pras won’t be rewarded anything after $30 million lawsuit against the NY Post who he claimed defamed him for saying he bailed on a 9/11 charity event.

NY Post reported Pras was a no show to Hope For Them; he didn’t perform because of flu claims; he bounced a check; and he told folks MTV sponsored the event when it had not.

Pras sued the newspaper claiming the article was false and he had nothing to do with the charity or benefit performance, according to theJasmineBRAND.com. He said the piece resulted in therapy due to people blasting him for his alleged shady business towards the 9/11 benefit.

Nevertheless, the newspaper claimed its report was true. This includes him failing to show up to the charity event. He even forgot to register the charity with NY officials as required by law.

According to the judge, the NY Post is known for less than serious reporting, the tone of the article wasn’t defamatory and that the info came from an anonymous source — leaving the reader to decide if it’s accurate.
