Giancarlo Esposito Joins George Clooney, Julia Roberts in ‘Money Monster’

*Giancarlo Esposito, who will next be seen in Fox’s second film in its YA franchise “The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” has joined the cast of Jodie Foster’s “Money Monster” with George Clooney and Julia Roberts, reports Deadline.com.

He’s play Captain Marcus Powell, the NYPD lead officer in charge of a situation with a gunman holding a TV stock tip announcer named Lee Gates (Clooney) hostage.

Esposito’s character tries desperately to bring the ordeal to a peaceful close as the gunman promises to kill Gates if the cameras are turned off, thereby captivating a nation.

The project was nabbed in 2014 by TriStar in one of its biggest deals of the year, notes Deadline.

Esposito is also one of the voice artists in Jon Favreau & Disney’s 2016 live action/animation version of “The Jungle Book” which also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson & Ben Kingsley.

The actor also recently completed production on the independent musical drama “Stuck.”
