Savannah Guthrie Filling In for Lester Holt Monday on ‘NBC Nightly News’

Savanna Guthrie and Lester Holt
TODAY — (l-r) Savannah Guthrie and Lester Holt appear on NBC News’ “Today” show

*“Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie is expected to anchor “NBC Nightly News” Monday evening, a source tells Variety, as Lester Holt deals with a family medical emergency.

Holt is expected to return to the program, which he has commanded since NBCUniversal suspended Brian Williams for six months in the wake of his admission that he falsified details about a 2003 NBC News excursion to Iraq.

Holt has maintained “Nightly’s” lead among viewers, though ABC’s “World News,” anchored by David Muir, won more viewers in the demographic favored by advertisers in news programming, people between 25 and 54, for the five days between February 16 and February 20.

Guthrie has anchored “NBC Nightly News” in the past, filling in on occasion for Williams.
