*Former “American Idol’ winner Scotty McCreery has been pretty vocal about his love for Charlie Wilson, having been a fan since he was a young boy.
The country star had a dream come true last Wednesday (Feb. 18) when he attended his hero’s concert in Raleigh – and Uncle Charlie brought him on stage to sing “Charlie, Last Name Wilson.”
Wilson asks McCreery on stage, “If there was a girl right here, and she was right in front of you, you’d have to tell her your name, or my name or something. Would you just sing that?”
McCreery replaced his own name in the hit song, singing, “Scotty, Last Name McCreery.”
Speaking to TasteOfCountry.com following the unexpected performance, McCreery said, “That was a night I’ll never forget. Charlie is an amazing performer and such a gentleman. I never expected to meet him, let alone be asked to join him on stage – that was a huge honor.”
