*Vanilla Ice has been released from custody in Lantana, Fl. after being arrested and charged with breaking into and stealing from an abandoned home.

Police in the Palm Beach County town say the rapper and home-improvement show host had been renovating a home next to the victim’s as part of his DIY/HGTV series “The Vanilla Ice Project.” They said some of the stolen items were found at his property.

According to a statement from the Lantana Police Department, several household items — furniture, a pool heater, bicycles — were stolen from the home in foreclosure.

The 47-year-old was charged Wednesday with burglary of a residence and grand theft and taken into custody. He was released from the Palm Beach County jail Wednesday night on a $6,000 bond.

“It’s a misunderstanding, it was blown out of proportion,” he said as he was leaving the Palm Beach County Jail, according to a local NBC affiliate. “It’s sad that good news doesn’t travel this fast. It’s just out of proportion and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I’ve done.”

He added, “It’ll all get cleared up. You’ll see.” (Watch below.)

A representative for DIY Network did not answer questions about whether the house in question is involved with the show. “DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter,” the rep said.
