Entertainment Weekly reports the show, which continues to attract new viewers, is the strongest hour-long series this season with impressive ratings among the 18-49 demographic.

The publication references Fox, which mentioned that “Empire” the only primetime scripted series to grow in total viewers over each of its first five telecasts since at least 1991. In addition, the show is the only series (scripted or otherwise) to have accomplished this achievement.

Although the viewers for ABC’s game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” grew through each of its first five telecasts in 1999, EW notes that the telecasts were technically considered “specials” when “Millionaire” first aired instead of regular episodes.

The success of “Empire” is further evident as it averages 14 million viewers and a 5.6 rating among adults 18-19, according to total DVR data available so far this season for the first two weeks.
