Tyrese Campaigns for Green Lantern Role on Instagram

*Warner Bros announced that its Green Lantern character won’t be in theaters until 2017…but Tyrese Gibson has already started lobbying for the title role.

The 36-year-old actor and singer is putting it out there via Instagram, letting the studio know just how serious he is about being cast as the superhero, who will be featured in at least two new “Justice League” films, Entertainment Weekly reports.

He’s posted more than a dozen movie poster-style pics depicting himself as the character, along with messages touting the character’s famous oath.

“Determined!!! I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure,” the actor wrote in his latest post Tuesday.

“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might, Beware my power, Green Lantern’s light!!!

So far, Warner Bros., which owns DC Comics, hasn’t revealed who will don the power ring in “Justice League Part One,” which hits theaters in 2017 or the planned “Lantern” standalone flick, slated for 2020.

It’s also unclear which of the Green Lantern characters the films will feature. Online buzz has suggested it could be John Stewart, a black character whose storyline was launched in the comics in the early ‘70s. But it could also be Hal Jordan, who is white.

Ryan Reynolds played Jordan in the 2011 film that flopped at the box office.

Last week, Forbes reported “American Sniper” star Bradley Cooper was at the top of the studio’s wish list.

In the meantime, Gibson is set to appear in “Furious 7,” the latest of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, and also has an album coming out, “Black Rose,” due in March.
