*Kanye West only had kind words for his once protégé John Legend as he toasted him during his 36th birthday party recently, while their wives Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen stood next to them.
“A gentleman, a very well-mannered human being right here,” West spoke about Legend. “I’m trying to get some pointers from him. I don’t want to be the Phil Spector of hip-hop or anything.”
According to Page Six, Legend started working with West back in 2001. Now, he’s celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album, “Get Lifted.”
“People were skeptical about us, they didn’t know if we had what it takes to be successful,” Legend said after taking the mic from West to thank him.
Legend revealed West has always supported him. He added, “Kanye would take me to these meetings and jump on the table and tell people I was the next Stevie Wonder.”
This is one time I think Kanye got it right. I, too, like a lot of people was a bit hesitant about John Legend at first, but NOW I have nothing but praise for him. I love dudes voice; it’s distinct and filled with character; you know who’s singing immediately. He also writes some very meaningful songs – no crap! Stevie Wonder is a true WONDER of all time and John is following in his footsteps.
John Legend is talented but at the same time boring! Stevie Wonder is very entertaining
Yo Yeezy…I like JL too but…..”slow waaaay down, ‘on THAT shyt! I know he’s a homie n all but….”pump up breaks”, maaaaaayan!!!
