Crew and cast members spoke of the dynamic of it all.

Their comments were peppered with delight and perhaps even a bit of relief and even triumph.   See the clip below and sense the feeling of pride concerning this work.

“We want to tell the truth whether its good or bad. That’s what the show is about,” Actor, Terence Howard said

In “Empire,” African Americans are not just in front of the camera, but also behind the scenes; as writers and as creators. “Empire” employed African American directors of color; like, Debbie Allen, John Singleton, Anthony Hemmingway and Mario Van Peebles.

“These are people that I admire, I’m so happy that we’re all working together,”Creator, Lee Daniels said.

“I just love seeing programs that have people of color in them. I think we need more of that. I think that Hollywood needs to [stay] more open minded, and you know, I just think that more stories about our lives need to be told ~ all across the board no matter how its told,” said Actress, Ciera Payton.

“Empire” was created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.
