LAPD On the Hunt for O.J. Simpson’s Stolen Heisman Trophy

oj_simpson*The Los Angeles Police Department is on the hunt for O.J. Simpson’s 1968 Heisman Trophy.

TMZ reports the cops have obtained a search warrant to recover the item. The warrant will allow detectives to secure the phone records of a man they believe stole the trophy from Heritage Hall at USC in 1994.

In November, a man called the school, saying he wanted to authenticate to authenticate the trophy after purchasing it from a friend years ago. Although the people at USC determined the guy did have the Heisman, but the police didn’t believe his story. In their eyes, the man is the one who stole the trophy.

TMZ goes on to mention that LAPD detectives went to court last month and got a warrant to track the guy down and nab the items. In light of the statute of limitations having long run out, he can’t be prosecuted.
