Money’s Funny? Toni Braxton’s Ex Auctions Off Music Royalties

Toni.Braxton-Keri-lewis*Things are becoming financially difficult for Toni Braxton’s ex-husband Keri Lewis. So much so that theJasmineBRAND.com reports that he has auctioned off royalties to nearly 80 of the songs he wrote in hopes of using the money to get a lawsuit filed against him for back child support dismissed.

The site added that Lewis recently held an auction to sell off 100% of his future ASCAP royalties for 78 songs he wrote. An ad for the auction stated that Lewis’ music had generated money from everything from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Braxton Family Values.”

The suit, which Braxton reportedly filed in Georgia court, demands that Lewis be found in contempt for failing to pay his required child support for their two sons, Denim Cole Braxton-Lewis and Diezel Ky Braxton-Lewis.

Bankruptcy documents from Braxton show that she is to receive $2,000 a month from Lewis for support for the two children they share together. The contempt lawsuit is seeking to have a court order find that Lewis has not been paying the ordered child support. As a result, the suit requests an order to get the back child support ASAP.

Although Lewis reportedly attempted to sell his royalties for $16,500, it sold off for less than the asking price at $16,400, despite the auction ending with more than 200 bidders.
