Judd Apatow Takes Venues to Task for Not Cancelling Bill Cosby Shows

Judd-Apatow-Bill-Cosby*Hollywood writer/director/producer Judd Apatow continues to voice his dislike of Bill Cosby as he questions venues that are allowing the comedian to perform upcoming shows.

Apatow took to Twitter last week to express his opposition to the venues, which will host Cosby’s shows despite the fact that entertainer hasn’t said anything regarding allegations of misconduct, sexual assault, and rape made against him by various women.

The following are Apatow’s tweets to the venues:

so @Centre_Square – are you really going to let Bill Cosby perform on your stage January 7?

— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) December 27, 2014

You too @BudGardens Jan 8? Is Cosby only popular in Ontario Canada at this point? Do people still find him delightful after 30 accusers?

Although Apatow criticized Centre Square, noted that the venue isn’t able to just cancel Cosby’s upcoming show in light of it having a legitimate financial reason for allowing the performance to go on.

While someone pointed out Centre Square’s dilemma to Apatow, the film director continued to go back and forth with folks who had doubts about the claims made against Cosby by his accusers, as evidenced by the tweets below:

“@woofmachine: @JuddApatow @Centre_Square innocent until Proven”. He should speak publicly about how false this all is. 30 alibis.

“@mikeandrewb: @JuddApatow @Centre_Square and ur obsession is because…?” I guess it’s because guys who rape a lot aren’t cool.

— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) December 27, 2014

[email protected] @Centre_Square In fact I did retweet the article about how it is hard to cancel Cosby. I get it. But he shouldn’t perform.

@Cat__Jazzy read up on it. Watch the videos of the victims. I think you will find compassion for what they suffered through.

— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) December 27, 2014

@cherri_may it is not extortion when most of the accusers do not want anything. These are much older woman who suffered for decades.

— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) December 27, 2014

[email protected] @Centre_Square I always wonder why some people try so hard to not believe women who have been assaulted. What is the root of that?

— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) December 27, 2014

    • up to 30 accusers now, Cosby is guilty at least of some of it if not all. The sheer number of accusers and his continued silence is what convicts him. The rule of law your innocent until proven guilty is a mere technicality here. Cosby is allowing the court of public opinion to try and convict him by his continued silence on the matter. If he were innocent he would be shouting it from the roof tops.

  1. Judd Apatow should stick with making movies and stay out of controversial public matters that don’t involve him. Just like every other person in the world, he has an opinion, but I don’t see why his opinion carries any more weight that anyone else’s. Mr. Apatow better watch out though; his mouth just might sabotage his ticket sales.
