STEVE HARVEY TO JUMP THE BROOM: Plus, entertainer is pitching syndicated TV show based on radio program.(June 7, 2007)
*Syndicated radio host Steve Harvey is headed to the chapel following confirmation that he is engaged to his girlfriend, Marjorie Bridges, reports Essence.com. Also, TVWeek.com is reporting that the comedian is currently shopping a television comedy series that is based on his radio show. While the couple attended Monday’s reception in Harlem for Eddie Levert’s new book, “I Got Your Back,” Harvey reportedly told everyone: “This is my fiancée.” Essence.com writes: “The brown-skinned beauty sported what looked like a canary yellow marquis diamond of generous weight.” Harvey was married for 10 years to his former wife, Mary, until their divorce became final in December 2005. They have one child together, Wynton. Harvey has twin daughters and a son from his first marriage. Meanwhile, Harvey’s proposed TV series would be set in the New York offices of his nationally-syndicated “The Steve Harvey Morning Show" and feature Harvey and his sidekicks being taped while on the air. At least two distributors are "extremely interested" in the concept, sources tell TV Week. The series is shooting for a fall 2008 debut. Harvey’s drive-time morning program features music, humor, news and celebrity guests. Co-hosts include Shirley Strawberry, Carla Ferrell and Harvey's nephew Tommy. Other celebrities who have already signed, shopped or are expected to be attached to syndication deals for 2008 are comedian-actress Bonnie Hunt, who signed a deal with Telepictures; "Alias" star Jennifer Garner, who is shopping a motherhood-themed "View" style series; and Rosie O'Donnell.
