TRAMAINE HAWKINS DECLARES 'I NEVER LOST MY PRAISE' ON NEW CD: Long-awaited live album produced by Kurt Carr- debuts March 6, 2007(February 28, 2007)
During Tramaine Hawkins' six year absence from recording, she never lost her praise. The title of her upcoming album, "I Never Lost My Praise" verifies that fact. The legendary singer has still got it as she demonstrates on the title track and a re-arrangement of the song that has carried her voice the world over, "Oh Happy Day." Produced by gospel hitmaker Kurt Carr and mainstream production icon Jamie Hawkins, her son, I Never Lost My Praise is a triumphant return to an industry the singer has been a part of for four decades now. Unquestionably, one of the greatest vocalists of our time, her name is etched in gospel music history books as an undeniable part of the success of the genre. The CD is an 11-track masterpiece with elements of contemporary gospel and traditional church stylings accented by a collage of beautiful praise and worship tracks. It wasn't just during her time with the Edwin Hawkins Singers and The Love Alive Series that people came to know her, but it was also through her 9 critically-acclaimed solo projects as well. After a 6-year absence from recording, Grammy Award winning Tramaine Hawkins returns with a brand new musical offering, I Never Lost My Praise. The long-awaited project was recorded live at Reid Temple AME Church in Glenn Dale, MD and showcases this gospel superstar in rare form. I Never Lost My Praise exhibits what fans of Tramaine have loved through the years. Songs like the spirited "Excellent Lord", a driving, up-tempo praise anthem and "Lord You Are", a breathtakingly beautiful ballad with a guest appearance by piano virtuoso Richard Smallwood, are two jewels. One of the album's highlights is the title tune, I Never Lost My Praise. Pure Sunday morning joy, the song is one of personal testimony for Tramaine. Penned by songwriter Kurt Carr and backed by Patrick Lundy & The Ministers Of Music, the songstress gives it her all as she also does on "You Get The Glory", a track which will find church goers praising in the aisles. The legendary artist, named by countless mainstream artists as an inspiration, is known for hits like Goin' Up Yonder, Jesus Christ Is The Way and Be Grateful. I Never Lost My Praise is certain to add more favorites to that list, although the project was a long time coming. "Initially, I felt that I should have recorded years ago," says the artist. "But I realized that God had planned it just for this time. His timing is always right."
