JAMIE FOXX MAKING SIRIUS POWER MOVES: Actor forms new company; launches show on Sirius satellite.(January 24, 2007)
*Jamie Foxx is stepping up his business hustle with the launch of two new ventures, a company designed to develop and nurture songwriters, and an urban lifestyle channel for Sirius satellite radio. The entertainer has teamed with music publisher Bug Music in a symbiotic relationship that will benefit the actor’s Foxx King Entertainment endeavors in film, TV, music and new media, while leveraging Bug's global music services infrastructure, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Music has always been a key part of my life and my work," Foxx said. "But first, it is a true love of mine. I have always admired the songwriters and the musicians and now have the opportunity to collaborate as a publisher with songwriters, established and new, who share this love with me." Bug also will administer the music publishing catalog of Foxx's publishing company, Sly as a Foxx Music, registered with BMI. In the spring, Sirius Satellite Radio will launch The Foxxhole, an exclusive urban comedy, entertainment and lifestyle channel that will feature the Academy Award winner as executive producer, on-air host and contributor. For the 24/7 outlet on channel 106, Foxx will draw from his wide array of artistic experience and success from music, comedy, film and television. He will be heard on the channel daily with a segment featuring dispatches from Jamie no matter where he is in the world. Additionally, Foxx and his team of contributors will host a weekly show on the channel to feature original comedy bits and a new approach to radio theater. "The Foxxhole will break new ground in comedy, blurring the lines between stand-up, sketch, and music," said Foxx. "Sirius Satellite Radio gives me the opportunity to create urban entertainment and programming like you have never heard on the radio." Marcus King, who has produced such Foxx projects as The Jamie Foxx Show, Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable, Genius: A Night for Ray Charles, and other television series and specials, will also serve as executive producer. In other Foxx news, the artist ended up in the New York Post’s Page Six on Tuesday for his peculiar beverage order during an after-party for his “Unpredictable" show at New York’s Marquee. According to the column: “The Oscar winner requested Belvedere, plastic pour spouts and pre-made, hot-pink, sex-on-the-beach mix. Flack Lindsay Zantop, who reps Belvedere, said: "Curious publicist that I am, I [asked] why the need for the pour spouts when he has a dedicated waitress? The answer - he loves to douse lovely ladies at his soirees with luxury vodka and sex-and-the-beach. Turns out, it's 'his thing.'"
