(Washington, D.C.) – The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) will hold their 30th Annual Fall Broadcast Management Conference, beginning Wednesday, September 6 through Friday, September 8, 2006, at The Fairmont Washington, D.C. Hotel, 2401 M Street, NW, in Washington, D.C.
The theme of this year’s NABOB fall conference, “Growing Your Business During A Down Cycle – Creative Strategies for Success,” will be addressed through panels focusing on: Sales, Advertising, Future of Broadcasting, Station Acquisitions, Programming, and a Washington Regulatory Update. Station owners and other broadcast experts will converge to discuss the pertinent issues that affect each of these areas and present agendas and strategies for success.
NABOB is a non-profit corporation and the only trade organization representing the interests of African-American owners of radio and television stations across the United States.

Sales Training Panel
"REVENUE OPPORTUNITIES DESPITE BUSINESS STAGNATION"
Panel Focus: Our panel of sales experts will discuss how to increase advertising revenue in spite of the current overall slowdown in broadcast advertising. Our panelists will discuss how to train your sales staff to be better and more productive. The discussion will include how to make better use of ratings services and research to tell your story. The panelists will offer insights for sales managers and general managers on how to lead your sales teams in a more constructive and rewarding manner.
Advertising Panel
"BROADCAST ADVERTISING--THE ADVERTISER'S LOCAL PARTNER"
Panel Focus: Our panel of experts will discuss how broadcast stations are succeeding against new competitors on the internet, cable and satellite. The panel will discuss the benefit of broadcasters' local connection to the community and how it is helping advertisers reach their target audiences. The panel will also discuss where they see broadcast advertising going in the future.
Broadcasting Panel
"THE FUTURE OF BROADCASTING"
Panel Focus: A distinguished group of experts will share their views on the future of the broadcast industry. With HD signals being broadcast by a growing number of radio stations, IBOC AM moving forward, and digital television allowing television broadcasters to air multiple channels, broadcasters are prepared to meet the competition of their newest rivals. Our panelists will discuss these and other developments as they discuss the industry's prospects.
Washington Update Panel
"OWNERSHIP RULES, PAYOLA AND INDECENCY---
WHERE ARE THE REGULATORS TAKING US?"
Panel Focus: Legal advisors to the FCC Commissioners, Congressional Staffers, and other Washington insiders will discuss the many issues pending in Washington that will be affecting broadcasters. The Commission is conducting a rule making proceeding on ownership rules, and investigations into payola and indecency. In addition, the Congress is considering legislation on broadcast ownership, national franchises for video providers and net neutrality. Our distinguished panel will give us insights into what to expect on these and other matters pending in Washington.
Station Acquisitions
"WHAT IS AVAILABLE? WHAT IS THE PRICE?"
Panel Focus: A panel of experienced media brokers and station acquisition experts will discuss the market for buying and selling broadcast stations. Our panelists will provide insights on how to position your company to become the preferred buyer. They will also discuss how to position your station to obtain top dollar if you are a seller.
Programming Panel
"WHAT DOES YOUR AUDIENCE WANT TO HEAR?"
Panel Focus: Our panelists will give an overview of the programs and formats that are achieving audience success today. The panel will describe how successful stations determine what their audience wants to hear, and how they assemble the combinations of live local programming, network programming and syndicated programming to deliver a winning product to the audience. The panel will also discuss the recent payola investigation in the State of New York.
