Comment: Happy three-day weekend for all who have today off! All I can say about the BET Awards is I'm so happy I did not watch that mess. I've heard such horriby negative comments from so many people who watched about what many have styled a 'coonfest' and the bleeping of lyrics, and young girls on stage twinning and dry humping while that ugly azz lil' wayne and some other crapper spoke (there's no singing there) such nasty lyrics until most of it was bleeped, and how Ving, drunk as a skunk, showed his azz (which is so disappointing from such a fine actor). If the powers that be at BET think that was a tribute to Michael Jackson, they are very delusional. Michael always brought it clean and original, the polar opposite of the way BET rolls. Black folks, when are we collectively and as one voice, going to shut down that nasty azz, negative, coon station and reclaim the many, many positives in our communities?

Comment: Obviously Lil Wayne is not a real father or else he wouldn't be up on a stage saying that crap in front of his daughter. BET should not have tried to rush that "tribute". They should have waited and produced a show that was a fitting tribute, not one with Jamie Foxx bragging about his "package" and Lil Wayne's mysoginistic rap, etc.

Comment: Papasmurf83, BET's programming has been in the gutter for so many years, that Debra Lee (whom I believe they brought on board to keep the coonfest going) would not know how to produce a positive and fitting tribute to Michael even if they had a road map! Debra and her co-horts are just another handful in the long line of toms to exploit and make money off their own people. I truly wish Scotty were alive so he could beam the whole damn station into outer space, never to be seen or heard from again. Those b.a.s.tards can't think too much of the Black community, else they would once again, like in the early days, give us some balanced and positive programming, not that shyt they try to pass off as Black entertainment. I am totally and thoroughly disgusted, and plan to let Debra and 'em know exactly how I feel. (Not that they would give a flying rats azz as long as they continue to make money off Black folks.)

Comment: Is anyone surprised at BET's behavior. Blacks seem to be the only one still thinking BET really stands for BLack Entertainment. Check the statistics on the murder rate of kids who are glued to BET's (c)rappers on a daily basis. The are complete gun toting, pants hanging off stereotypes.

Comment: Folks need to realize this wasn't a MJ tribute show. It was the BET Awards show acknowledging Mike. There is a difference. Also BET didn't have those girls come out on stage,Drake said that Wayne did that at the last second. I don't know why everybody is getting so upset for this is supposedly what the young kids consider hot nowadays. It obviously wasn't aime at folks my age so I could care less. It's just a shame because the show had flashes of what good entertainment is (Neyo,Jamie Foxx,Ojays tribute).

Comment: I have a grand nephew about to turn 13. He is also my youngest godchild, and his IQ, according to yt america is over 180, yet his favorite rapper is lil' wayne, so is he going through a phase? (May G-d look down, and say yes, Conrad, he will move beyond this!) He does not live in the 'hood' (like I did in Bed Stuy; he was born in Northern California, about 1/2 hour from San Francisco), he speaks perfect English, not that shyt whom some kneegrows have tried to dumb down Black children with and call it Ebonics (whatever the fock that shyt is) and I want more than lil' wayne and 'em for him!

Comment: I contacted BET here in Washington, D.C. and I informed them, the Awards show was awful and it was a Coonathon. Blacks must strive for higher standards with class and morals. As an educated black man over 45 and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., ignorant azz Negroes like Little Wayne, 50 Cents, Drake, Jamie Foxx, Ving Ramgs will continue to make the black race look bad by their bad behavior. Jamie Foxx was an idiot and I think he was drunk or on drugs. He should have never brought the issue up about race and Michael Jackson belong to black people. Michael Jackson was loved or admired by all races of people both gay and straight.

Comment: The biggest thing is perception. If someone was around to tell kids that was watching the show that that is not right then I could ALMOST stomach it. ALMOST! I grew up on NWA, Dre, and Snoop so that music wasn't too much better. But what I did have was someone to tell me that was not real life. And more importantly, what they were saying wasn't right. That changed my perspective on the whole genre. I don't think there is anyone telling the youngins' that that is not right.

Comment: Good for you bullcity73. Until those of us in the Black community can put a sentence together let the likes of BET know we hate their 'programming', it is never going to change. I hope you let them know also that we are the ones with the disposable dollars, not those ebonic speaking ghetto-azz children who post to the BET website. I swear, those young, ignorant, undeducated Black kids are so stupid and English-challenged until they are TOTALLY incapable of putting a three word sentence together, and those who can, spell it so badly until you still have no idea what they're saying.
