Just the ones who never could have afford it have to take a break either temporary or permanently because they were living above their means. Anyhows, those shoes are ugly and not worth $540. Definitely a waste of money in my opinion. I'm sure the homeless don't even care less about those ugly shoes, hell they just want some assistance and compassion for families

A few years back some redneck wrote an OpEd piece that made it into the washington post and I, possessed of the knowledge that would square his as.s away, responded. He had visited the Metropolitan area and saw just way too many homeless men in like brand new nike's and reeboks and such. He decided that if they didn't spend their begging money on expensive shoes they could find somewhere to live.
I joyfully told him about the program here that collects barely worn shoes (guys don't wear their shoes out - they used to throw them out until someone came up with this idea) and kindly thanked him for his concern. So, Michelle is experiencing our city and all it's caveats and I'm sure she will find somewhere to donate her gently used goods just like most of the rest of them that NO ONE talks about.

I think her hair is nice (except when she wears it back into a ponytail, she does not have the face to pull that look off imo). So just for clarification, you are mistaken. I did call her style strange because it is. Sometimes she pulls off a classy look and then the next day she'll have on a poof skirt with ugly flats and a shirt with a big bow in the middle, lol. Eccentric is one thing, quirky is one thing, imo her style is neither. When she goes for the juggernaut like with these awful shoes and cacky capris (to do yard work in? why not capri jeans or sweats?) and mismatched sweather (it was grey and yellow, the shoes are grey and pink, wth?), it's just weird, lol. Again, jmo. I like her, I've said so many times, she's the only "Black" representation Black America is going to get apparently, lol, so I give her props. But sorry, fashion is not her strong suit. And that's perfectly okay.

Given Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, he will almost definitely have another opportunity in his first term to appoint another person to the Supreme Court, something almost unprecedented for a first term president. And I'm real cheap cuz any incidental stuff we needed - toiletries, etc. did not come from the overpriced hotel store. We hopped our happy azzes over to the CVS in the middle of the strip. I guess the valets, etc. aren't for cheap azzes like me. LOL

Typically, presidents appoint federal appeals court judges to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Sears is impressive and I've heard her name over the years, but that's the rub with her as a pick. There is a dearth of Black (and certainly Black female) judges in the federal judiciary. Just an FYI.

State courts, even state supreme courts handle matters of state law (as-in that particularly state only). The jurisprudence, caselaw that is argued, precedents, etc. are limited to issues of state law constuction. Federal jurisprudence is entirely different. They are issues, typically of constuction of the U.S. constitution, federal statutes, treaties, and the like and that body of law is a different body of law than found in state courts, even state supreme courts. It's not that Judge Sears is not qualified, it's that whenever you have a candidate who doesn't have a "record" vis-a-vis the federal laws that will come before the court, it makes it difficult to %*$ess how they will serve as a justice on the high court. Look, I'm totally in the camp of putting qualified people like Sears on the court. I'm just explaining why you might hear some scoffing if she were chosen. What I'm saying is more about the Ivy League intelligencia committee that runs Washington and every president's staffs than anything else. That crew recognizes federal court judges almost to the exclusion of any others.
